Program Description: The Athens Clarke Literacy Council is an umbrella organization
promoting adult literacy programs in Athens-Clarke County. ACLC holds volunteer training for those wishing to be involved in adult literacy instruction, directs volunteers to adult literacy programs needing assistance, and links adult students to appropriate organizations for instruction.

Statement of Purpose: Building Friendship Frontiers (BFFs) is dedicated
to providing a welcoming environment and social tutoring system for local
high school students with autism spectrum disorders. The organization works
to be a proactive force to increase autism awareness and help students with

Additional Information: Dedicated to promoting healthier
outcomes for children ages 4-15 with a primary focus on those with incarcerated
parents. Mentors spend three hours per week with a child. Mentors must complete
an application, personal interview, submit to a background check, and maintain
motor vehicle insurance. Mentors are provided free training.
