On this page you will reflect on what you've learned this semester and how you will use it in the future.   All questions should be answered in paragraph format. You should mention artifacts, webpages, articles, etc. that support your statements.

1. What is your understanding of learning theory and teaching strategies? What learning theory most resembles your beliefs about what should occur in a learning environment. Describe some of your personal learning experiences and how specific teaching strategies helped you to learn difficult concepts.

2. What learning theories and teaching strategies are supported by the integration of technology into the learning environment? What specific activities/projects did you create in EDIT 2000 that support your answer?

3. What is your understanding of the 7 Levels of Technology Implementation? At what Level is the "ideal learning environment"? At what levels were the activities/projects that you created for this course? What changes could you make to the activities/projects to make them a higher LoTi level?

4. Imagine a conversation with a teacher in your chosen subject and grade level. What would you tell him/her about the benefits of integrating technology into their teaching? About what potential issues would you warn him/her?

5. What do you believe you have left to learn about teaching with technology? If there were another two weeks in this course, what else would you like to learn? About teaching with technology? About using technology?

6. What will you remember most about this course? With respect to teaching strategies? With respect to technology?

Rubric

I won't be using a rubric for this assignment -- as it is based solely on your opinion that is supported by facts from classroom activiities/projects, class discussion, and assigned readings.

This is what I'll be looking for as I'm grading your papers:

  • 2 or more single-spaced pages, 12-pt font, 1" margins
  • Responses that show an understanding for the main themes of the course: learning theory, teaching strategies, Levels of Technology Implementation, and strategies for integrating technology
  • Responses that show growth from what you have learned and experienced during the semester
  • Specific examples to support your statements: from readings, class discussions, and activities / projects
  • Answers to all of the questions -- in paragraph format -- in the order in which they are asked
  • A lack of the word "fun" or any of its synonyms. If you have learned anything this semester -- it should be that "fun" or "motivation" or "enrichment" should not be the reason for expending large amounts of time and money on technology in education. You should talk about technology integration in terms of its place in an entire teaching and learning program -- not as an add-on or an extra. Where does it fit? Where does technology help with teaching and learning that traditional teaching methods cannot?
