Myra N. Womble joined the Department of Occupational Studies in Fall 1992.  Before coming to the University of Georgia, Dr. Womble was a faculty member in the Division of Business at a private four-year college in North Carolina.  While in North Carolina, she received close to $1 million in federally funded grants for curriculum development activities in Computer Information Systems, and was director of the division's Computing Academic Enrichment Program.  Dr. Womble received her Ed.D. in Training and Development in 1992 from North Carolina State University and her M.A. in Business and Office Education in 1978 from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Womble's primary research interests include curriculum development and instruction with emphasis on technology and at-risk learners.  Since her appointment at the University of Georgia, Dr. Womble's program of research has focused on improving the employment readiness and career preparation of America's youth, particularly urban and at-risk youth.  To continue this line of research, Dr. Womble is currently examining the development and effectiveness of online instruction.

Dr. Womble has authored or co-authored a number of scholarly articles which have appeared in refereed journals such as The Delta Pi Epsilon Journal, The Journal of Information System Education, The Journal of Vocational Education Research, The Journal of Vocational Education & Training:  The Vocational Aspect of Education, The Journal of Educational Opportunity, The Journal of Industrial Teacher Education, Innovative Higher Education, and the Journal of the Research Association of Minority Professors.  In recognition of her research efforts, she was the 1996 AVERA Outstanding Beginning Scholar and has presented scholarly papers at national and international conferences.  Dr. Womble is editor of the Journal of Career and Technical Education (JCTE).
