Standards-based Units & Instructional Materials for
Middle School & High School Students

We believe that environmental education has become arguably the important topic in today’s society. School students and teachers of all ages are the first line of defense in protecting our precious national resources. To aid teachers, students, and their parents we have created these interactive units of instruction.

Each lesson is based on principles of contextual learning and teaching. When possible, we believe in taking the learner to the place where knowledge is to be applied. Obviously, there are times when this is not a practical option. These lessons are designed to meet this challenge by situating the learner and the teacher in the context of real environmental events. For example the Morphology Unit supposes that learners will become Naturalists on Whale Watching boats operating out of Gloucester, Massachusetts. The lesson begins as the passengers are boarding the boat, and “dock talk” has begun. All lessons are keyed to National and Georgia State Instructional Standards.

You will find that each lesson is a “turn key” system. They have everything the teacher needs, objectives, directions, video and audio instructional lessons arrayed within units, reflective learning activities, and student learning assessments. Interested teachers can access these lessons for free. Download and use them according to your best professional judgment.
