PREAMBLE

The goals and statements that follow reflect the current status of a process started during the Fall Quarter of 1993 as a part of the College's Technology Initiative. The first step was the formation of the College Technology Committee whose responsibility was to operationalize a strategic plan for developing technology goals. Next was the formation of four School Technology Committees whose responsibilities were to draft documents that outlined technology related goals for faculty, staff, and students within each school. Next the College provided members of each School Technology Committee with experiences designed to "enhance their vision" of technology. These included obtaining and circulating documents pertaining to technology, providing access to expert speakers and satellite teleconferences, attendance at technology conferences, and visits to sites extensively employing innovative uses of technology. A more detailed list of these efforts is provided on the next page.

This was followed by the creation of a College draft document that represented a synthesis of the four School draft documents by a Summer Writing Team. During the Fall Quarter of 1994, the College draft document was distributed to the faculty and feedback was obtained and integrated into this final document, entitled: "Technology Goals for the College of Education at the University of Georgia - 1995.
