2013-14 REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

Request for Proposals will be Available in August 2012.

Georgia’s Improving Teacher Quality Higher Education Program is managed by the University of Georgia for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Funding to support the program comes to the Board of Regents from the United States Department of Education as part of the No Child Left Behind Act signed by President George W. Bush and later identified as Title II, Part A, of Public Law 107-110. Georgia’s Improving Teacher Quality Higher Education Program funds are used to enhance the teaching of science, mathematics, language arts, reading, and social studies at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in public and private schools.

Improving Teacher Quality Grant Projects

Teacher Quality grant projects are for the professional development of teachers in language arts,mathematics, reading, science and/or social studies. Grants can also address teachers’ use of technology, alternative assessment strategies, or innovative teaching strategies, all with the goal to strengthen and deepen teachers’ content knowledge in their academic subjects with emphasis on how deepened content knowledge impacts teaching practices and student learning.

Goals of the Teacher Quality Grant Program

To assist teachers in:

  • Becoming current in the content they teach
  • Becoming current in appropriate strategies for teaching their subject
  • Developing the background necessary to incorporate instructional technology in the courses they teach.
