2013 Conference:

email usTheme: Using Free and Low-Cost Resources to Prevent and Respond to Bullying

This one-day conference was designed to help participants locate and effectively use free and low-cost resources for preventing and responding to bullying and creating a welcoming school climate. Researchers and practitioners from the fields of education, counseling, law, social work, and public health provided information on using a wealth of resources, including websites, videos, books, and surveys. Presentations included hands-on demonstrations of how to use each resource. Emily Bazelon, senior editor at Slate and nationally-recognized author of Sticks and Stones: Defeating the Culture of Bullying and Rediscovering the Power of Character and Empathy , was the keynote speaker. Participants received a copy of Bazelon’s book and a compendium of resources to assist in their own bullying prevention and implementation efforts.
