Graduation Requirements
Credit Hours Required for Degree
- Minimum of 120 credit hours for Bachelor of Science in Education.
Applying for Graduation
- Graduation applications are automatically generated upon the completion of 75 credit hours and 10 residence hours.
- Students for whom applications have been created may access that information through the registration main menu of OASIS.
Graduation Fee
- There is no charge for a graduation application or diploma fee for the bachelor's degree.
Participation in Graduation Ceremonies
- Currently, there are three formal UGA commencements each year held in May, August, and December.
- Convocation
- Convocations for graduating students in the College of Education, for all degree levels, are held in May and December.
- Students scheduled to graduate will receive a letter from the Dean detailing the date, procedure, dress, etc., for the semesterly convocation.
- Additional information may be obtained from the Student Services Center in Room 122 of Aderhold Hall.
Graduation and Transfer Credit
- Students registering for their final term's work at another institution must delay their graduation by one semester to allow the Admissions Office sufficient time to receive, evaluate, and record credits to the student's academic record.
Off Campus Courses Before Graduation
- Bachelor's degree candidates may take their last courses off campus provided departmental approval has been obtained and the 40 credit hour residency requirement is met.
Resident Credit Hour Degree Requirements
The University requires that 40 hours of the last 60 semester hours must be taken in residence, meaning at the University of Georgia campus in Athens. In addition, 12 of the semester credit hours required for a student's major must be earned in residence.
