Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching Program (COST)

"Be a World Class Teacher"

The University of Georgia encourages students to consider fulfilling their student teaching experience in an overseas school. At the present time, we are able to place students in schools in Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, Ecuador, England, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Scotland, Switzerland and Turkey. In non-English speaking countries, placement will be made in American or International Schools. In English-speaking countries, placement is usually made in host national schools. In all cases, language of instruction is in English.

Placement is made through the Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching Program (COST), a voluntary pact of mutual understanding among a group of colleges and universities acting through their schools, colleges, or departments of education to provide opportunities for quality student teaching placement and supervision in a setting outside the United States.

There are approximately 10-15 students from UGA who participate in this program each academic year. Application deadlines are approximately ONE YEAR prior to the semester you plan to student teach. There are some scholarship opportunities available. Please review the attached material. If you are interested, do not delay in contacting me directly in my office or by e-mail mkristin@uga.edu.
