Educational Field Experiences / Student Teaching

Dear Prospective Student Teacher,

Please read carefully the information below. If you encounter problems or have questions about any part of the student teaching application process, contact Martha Pruet, Office of Educational Field Experiences, 122B Aderhold Hall, 706.542.4185.

Thank you.

Before you begin work on your student teaching application, you should have the following information available to you:

  • The TITLES (not course numbers) of major education courses and courses in your teaching field.
  • A list of your courses that required pre-student teaching field experiences, including the course number, the grade level involved, the subjects that you observed and/or taught, and the name of the school.
  • A brief autobiography.

A copy of your completed application is forwarded to potential school placement sites, so be VERY careful to make the application, in particular the autobiography, a representation of your best work. Remember: This will be the first impression the school principal(s) and teacher(s) have of you!

DIRECTIONS

  1. Complete the application on-line. HAND-WRITTEN APPLICATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED!!
  2. Report any change of address, telephone number, or decision concerning your student teaching to your department’s student teaching program coordinator and to the Office of Student Teaching & Educational Field Experiences
  3. Ensure that you have a current PreCheck criminal background report
  4. Submit evidence of tort liability insurance to the Student Services office (122b Aderhold Hall) before the deadline. Application without evidence of tort liability insurance will not be processed.
  5. No action will be taken on finding a student teaching placement if you fail to fulfill any of these requirements.
