Faculty Exchange Visits

WVSU and WMSU visit UGA during March/April 2004

The Filipino Team Members of the Fulbright Partnership Grant's initial participation in the exchange visit aspect of the project started upon their arrival in Georgia on March 18, 2004. The visit came shortly after the UGA team members visited Iloilo City, Philippines in February, 2004. The exchange visits aimed to internationalize University based Science Education.

A poem entitle "The Garden" is read by an undergraduate student in Mr. Jamie Calkin's elementary science class to set the mood for the tree planting.

The Garden

Plant three rows of peas:
Peace of Mind
Peace of Heart
Peace of Soul

Plant four rows of squash
Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness

Plant four rows of lettuce
Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be obedient
Lettuce really love one another

No garden should be without turnips:
Turnip for meetings
Turnip for service
Turnip to help one another

Water freeely with patience and
Cultivate with love.
There is much fruit in your garden
Because you reap what yo usow.

To conclude our garden
We must have thyme:
Thyme for those we love
Thyme for study
Thyme for prayer
