Meeting Minutes
G-23 Aderhold Hall Present: Stephanie Bales, Betty Blum, Judy Harper, Becky Hendren, Pam LaSalle, Elizabeth Platt, Betty Prickett, Freita Strickland, Margaret Turner, Cindy Williams. 10:00 a.m. Margaret introduced Dr. Ed Grandpre, the new director of Staff Representative Group. Dr. Grandpre came to UGA from Mississippi State University where he worked in the Office of Student Affairs. The SRG members introduced themselves and Dr. Grandpre answered questions from the group. Committee Reports: Newsletter: No report. Safety: Sandy Smith, Elizabeth Platt and Cindy Williams met and made plans to draft a letter regarding the PA system in Aderhold and Rivers Crossing. Plans are in progress to make flip charts for emergency instructions. Staff Awards: The Committee hasn't met with Dean to find out about this year's funding. Betty will meet with him this month. Staff Awards and pertinent information/clips from this past year's ceremony is now on SRG website. Committee plans to ask Dean Castenell where is the best place to display Staff Awards plaque. This fall's COE Staff Social will be hosted by the College-Wide Unit. T-Shirt: Dave Wynne will remain as chair of the committee. Betty will inquire about any mix-ups on previous t-shirt orders. Plans are to have a sale this October that will include sweatshirts, long sleeve t-shirts and henleys. There is a need for samples of shirts and they should be sold before this year's football season is over. Chair Report: Betty distributed information about the Fall Faculty/Staff Celebration which will be held on October 1 at the Classic Center in Athens. Ideas and a committee was formed and Stephanie will chair the committee. Stephanie will create a brochure about ideas for a poster board presentation/display. A meeting was set for committee to meet on September 10 at 8:30am. Betty distributed brochures on this year's October 4-5 State Wide Staff Conference in Kennesaw, Georgia. She encouraged representatives to get information out to departments. Dean Castenell has agreed to fund trip if a representative from each school and at least one minority attends one day of the conference. USCR Report: Sandy dropped off notes from the September 5th meeting. The notes will be attached to today's meeting minutes. Old Business: Charities information: A team captain for each COE school will collect donations in a sealed envelope to send in as a unit. This will make it easier on the budget office when they receive the contributions. New Business: Betty distributed brochures regarding an Enneagram workshop to be presented by Art Sturgill on October 12-14 in Aderhold Hall. Meeting adjourned at 11:30a.m. Next meeting is scheduled for October 11, 2001.
