Minutes from the September SRG meeting were reviewed and one change was made.

Committee Reports:

Newsletter: The newsletter will be distributed to COE staff this week. Marsha Richmond prepared the layout for the newsletter. Committee members received a copy. There was a discussion regarding the printing of the newsletter. Freita Strickland and Stephanie Bales agreed that OIT and Elementary Ed department would alternate the printing of the newsletter since the Dean's Office declined to fund the expense.

Safety Committee: No report

Staff Social Committee: Becky Hendren reported that the Fall Social would be held on Halloween this year in Room 409/412 Aderhold from 11:00a.m ú 2:00p.m. hosted by STE and SPS. A meeting was held to discuss details for the social. Plans are to have a cake walk, games, goody bags, door prizes, and a costume contest. Food will possibly be barbeque sandwiches. Flyers will be sent out to COE staff announcing the social. It was agreed upon by the SRG that there would only be one social a year held aside from the Staff Awards.

Staff Lounge Committee: No report. It was agreed that there is no longer a need for this committee and people should contact the SRG if any needs arise.

T-Shirt Committee: No report

Chair's Report:
Betty Prickett reported that someone from Staff Benefits could come to Aderhold and hold a question and answer session with COE staff/faculty no earlier than November 9th. The SRG agreed that this date may be too late and there are several meetings scheduled people can attend. Betty will send out a notice regarding this. Betty met with Dean Castenell regarding Staff Awards and the Dean expressed his disappointment at the low attendance for last year's Staff Awards. Dean Castenell will have the school directors encourage more staff and faculty to attend in the future. Format and budget were also discussed and a meeting with the Staff Awards/Social Committee will be held to discuss this further and begin plans for next year's ceremony.

Old Business:
The Dean's Office approved the purchasing of enclosed bulletin boards for Ramsey and River's Crossing, but they will not be purchased due to the fact that neither building has space available. They have other boards where info may be posted.

USCR's Report (review of 10/4 meeting):
Sandy Smith reported that the Work Place Violence Act is now in place.

Meeting time expired. Sandy will get out the remaining notes of the Staff Council meeting and items for New Business, if any, will be covered in the next meeting scheduled for November 9th.
