Present: Stephanie Bales, Betty Blum, Judy Harper, Becky Hendren, Elizabeth Platt, Betty Prickett, Art Sturgill, Margaret Turner 10:00 a.m. Committee Reports: Newsletter: Margaret Turner will join the committee. Newsletter has been distributed and another issue will go out after Fall social. Will include two staff spotlights. They have been on those who have the longest years of service, starting with the oldest and moving up so that we can get them before they leave. Safety: No report Staff Awards: The committee met and discussed some plans for next year's awards ceremony. Committee members will remain the same for next year. Comment cards were reviewed and the majority positive. Judy will report results in the next newsletter. T-Shirts: Betty P. reported that 36 t-shirts had been sold. It was posed that there be samples of t-shirts available for the next sale and Elizabeth commented that colors were not correct for the past sale. Betty P. will contact Dave Wynne and report at the next SRG meeting if there will be any changes in the committee. Chair: Cindy Williams sent Betty P. flyers regarding the Executive Administrative Secretary ú UGA Conference, Institute of Gov't. Betty P. discussed the conference and distributed copies of the flyer. Betty reported that there will be a change in the Campaign for Charities distribution of information. Staff/faculty will be contacted individually by Campaign for Charities and will be responsible for reporting directly to the Campaign for Charities group for contributions. This will help alleviate the pressure put on staff by their supervisor to contribute and contributions made will be more confidential. Betty Prickett was re-elected as Chair of SRG and had first declined. The runner-ups did not want to take the position either, so another election was held. Art Sturgill had the most votes, but declined. Betty has since decided to resume the position of Chair. USCR: No July meeting. Old Business: Margaret reported that the Staff Representative Group survey had been prepared and the results would be available next month. There will be a new director of Staff Representative Group. The office of Staff Representative Group will be moved to room 122 during Fall semester. New Business: Betty Prickett contacted the dean's office about doing a COE summer social as once was proposed to SRG to help, but has not heard back. Betty will meet with Dean Castenell regarding funds for next year. Human Resources is updating the UGA telephone directory and a discussion was opened up about the need for more information on addresses and UGA zip codes. Meeting adjourned at 11:00a.m. The next SRG meeting will be August 8, 2001 in Aderhold. |
