Meeting Minutes

December 11, 2002
Staff Lounge-Aderhold

Present: Betty Blum, Janice Cieslak, Jennifer Guyton, Rene' Hammond, Jeanne Meeler, Teresa Melton, Cindy Molloy, Etta Roberts, Jacquee Rosumny, Heidi Sartain, and Julie Sartor

Rene' Hammond began the meeting with discussion of the reconstruction of the College of Education. Rene' spoke with Dr. Jeri Benson last week regarding how staff would be involved with the committee established for the restructure. Rene' said that she had received an email from Mary Cash (Counseling Dept.) requesting that she be considered to serve on the committee. Dr. Benson said that Dean Castenell will have 3 committees instead of the one and that one of the committees will be made up of staff with Rene' Hammond chairing the committee. No committee will be set-up until the first of the year. It is encouraged that those who serve on the committee be supportive to the College offering suggestions for the restructure as well as being a liaison between staff and the Dean.

Committee Reports

Staff Awards: Jacquee Rosumny sent out information to the staff awards committee on the process of nominating. All were in agreement for a more simplified nominating process. The staff awards committee will meet on January 8th.

Newsletter: Due to time constraints, the committee decided to forego the December newsletter and begin work on a Winter newsletter in January. The committee was very pleased with the October newsletter. The next scheduled newsletter committee meeting will be held on January 8 at 10 am.

Safety Report: No Report

Staff Council: No Report

Service:

Relay for Life: Joy Fulmer will be our Team Captain. It was noted that there is a $100 fee per team to register for the Relay for Life Walk. In order to get a good camp site, it was suggested that the money be turned in as soon as possible. The kickoff is planned for January 23rd.

Toys for Tots: Each committee member is asked to encourage all faculty and staff in their school to donate a toy. All toys and boxes will be picked up on December 20th.

The next SRG meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 15th at 10 am in the STE conference room (rm. 315) located in Aderhold Hall.

Meeting was adjourned.
