Meeting Minutes
December 7, 2000 Present: 10:15 a.m. Minutes from November SRG meeting were revised and approved. Committee Reports: Newsletter: Stephanie Bales will get copies out by 12/7/00. Staff Awards Committee: Betty Prickett reported on the field trip that the committee took to Botanical Gardens and Flinchum's Phoenix. The committee decided to use the facilities at the Botanical Gardens for the 2001 Staff Awards ceremony. It was not clear at present whether Dean Castenell will be available to attend this year. If not, an associate dean or someone will be asked to serve in his place. Charles Connor agreed to serve as the Staff Awards Selection Committee Chair. Nomination forms will be mailed out to all COE faculty and staff no later than February 15th and hopefully shortly after we return. T-Shirt Committee: Meeting to be scheduled. Chair's Report: Carolyn Howell, SRG MCTF representative was unavailable to attend this month's meeting, but will attend a meeting in the near future to discuss the mission of MCTF and her role. Dean Castenell was invited to attend our meeting and holiday luncheon. Betty asked that representatives work on getting issues from their staff for SRG to address. Staff Council: Sandy reported that three people from Environmental Safety Service attended the December meeting and encouraged staff to contact them with any problems in their buildings. Deanna Roth is the contact person. Sige Burden announced that there will be a Black Faculty & Staff Holiday Party at the Oconee County Civic Center on the evening of Saturday, December 9th. Tickets are $15 and everyone is welcome to attend. The executive committee scheduled the January meeting at the Dean Rusk Building. This meeting will be a less formal meeting and is open to anyone. The new Associate Vice President for Human Resources, Andy Brantley, will be present at the meeting and available to answer questions. Old Business: Welcome packets were discussed and more ideas were presented. It was stressed that the committee be alerted when new people begin working in COE. Committee members will be collecting items to be placed in the packets to be compiled at the January meeting. New Business: Marsha Richmond has accepted another position on campus outside of COE and will no longer be representing the College-Wide Unit. Margaret Turner was asked and accepted to serve. Darrell Golliher also announced the he will no longer be a representative and that Freita Strickland, who is currently an alternate, will serve in his place. A new alternate must be chosen. Meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m. |
