Committee Reports: Newsletter: No report Safety: Sandy is putting together a goals list for committee. She will get an estimate on the flip chart for each floor. They hope to have a fire drill in Aderhold possibly during Maymester. There was a suggestion that we have a tornado drill as well since we are coming into tornado season. Michael Childs and Troy Bassett agreed to be safety assistants on the ground floor. Carolyn Taylor is the main contact and will alert the school offices of an emergency, and Veronica Gensinger will be her backup. An intercom system is being considered for Aderhold for announcing emergencies. Staff Awards: Nominees for this year's Staff Award have been reviewed and selected. Programs along with comment card inserts are being printed and compiled. Banners will be placed at strategic points in the buildings. An email will be sent out again as a reminder to attend the ceremony. T-Shirt: Dave said sales were down and Betty commented that orders will probably be better in the Fall. Having samples of t-shirts might help sales, but Dave said because there was a low number of sales last time, samples were not provided. There will be a sale of sweatshirts for Fall/Spring. Chair Report: Betty Blum was elected as the representative for the School of Health and Human Performance. Betty Prickett is still working on alternate. The new elective will attend the June meeting. There will be an election for new officers in May. We will not hold an SRG meeting in July. Old Business: Sandy reported that Dr. Getch of the faculty senate will write a proposal to use the 2nd floor landing for smokers. UGA policy states each building is responsible for enforcing. It is up to the building's Dean to mandate the smoking policy. Becky wanted to know who was responsible for left over unsightly trash from Saturday Fall football games in the Aderhold parking lot. It was suggested that Kirk Oliver be contacted if there was a specific problem. New Business: Building improvements were passed out which included painting, etc. Margaret reported that there is a self study being done on the Staff Representative Group office. It will be simliar to the one done by OIT and they will use their survey as a model. Committee members campus-wide from Staff Representative Group will come up with a mission statement. Betty suggested that SRG give Dean Castenell a get well card and Troy said there was a folder for people to leave get well cards for Dean Castenell in Brenda Davis' office. |
