Staff Representative Group Meeting Minutes – January 19, 2006

613 Aderhold Hall

Present: Shea Ray, Mike Gorman, Susan Christopher, David Avin, Elizabeth Platt, Caroline Wooten, Laura Patrick, Barbara Galvond.

Old Business:

1. Minutes from last meeting were approved. Mike will have them posted to web.

2. Standing committee reports:

Safety Committee: Sections of the COE safety manual have been distributed to members of the committee and a late March early April completion date is expected. Safety group will be taking a CPR/First Aid class as a group.

Newsletter Committee: Next meeting for Spring Newsletter is 2/9/06 at 10:00.

Staff Awards Committee: Nomination packets have been distributed. The staff awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 6 at Flinchum’s Phoenix.

3. Special committee report:

Social Committee: Staff Social is scheduled for Friday, March 10 from 2:00-4:00 in Sun Room at River’s Crossing. It is a cruise ship theme and will include finger foods and games. Departments are asked to fill & decorate a sand bucket for door prizes. Completed buckets with the department’s name on it should be returned to Shea Ray by March 1. Buckets will be on display in the case near the Dean’s Office until the date of the event. Anyone who would like to volunteer for helping to run games is asked to please contact Caroline Wooten. Volunteers will not be asked to run a game for more than 30 minutes so they can enjoy the activities as well. Also, donations will be collected in memory of Salli Park for the Athens Creative Theater.

4. Report of Chair:

Shea will contact two departments regarding SRG representation. Currently, Communication Science and Disorders and Mathematics and Science do not have representation. Elizabeth Platt (Math & Science) agreed that she would move from alternate to representative and that Etta Roberts would be the alternate.

New Business:

Several issues and concerns were raised regarding the custodial staff and their responsibilities. Shea will address issues with Lou Anne.

Staff lounge. A discussion about getting more people involved in utilizing the staff lounge more frequently.

Next meeting will be on February 9th at 10:00 a.m. in G23 Aderhold.
