Staff Representative Group Meeting Minutes – January 11, 2007
G23 Aderhold Hall

Present: Freita Strickland, Chelita Edwards, Mike Gorman, Susan Christopher, Sally McDonald, Marianne Roberts, Julie Range, Barbara Galvond, Margaret Turner, Stephanie Bales, Jackie Rosumny.

Old Business

1. Minutes
Minutes were not available for approval. February 8th meeting will have 3 sets of meeting minutes for approval, November 9, December 14, and January 11.

2. Standing Committee Reports
Safety Committee
Committee met prior to winter break and set up the goals for the spring semester including a Safety Representatives table read of the Emergency Operations Plan, a meeting with the Emergency Preparedness Center, adding the Ramsey Center to the COE Emergency Operations Plan, and purchasing wheelchairs, and adding emergency exit maps to classrooms.

Newsletter Committee
The newsletter will be published after the Staff Awards.

Staff Awards Committee
Nominations are due February 14th and the letters are due to be sent out 1/12. The Staff Awards are scheduled for April 20th at Flinchum’s Phoenix.

3. Special committee reports
Social Committee
Coffee breaks in the Aderhold Staff Lounge will continue with Department’s volunteering each month. Marianne Roberts from Language and Literacy Education will host the coffee break on January, 25th from 2-4 p.m.

Staff Lounge Committee
The Physical Plant is looking into fixing the circuits so that both microwaves can be used at the same time.

4. Report of Chair
Freita Strickland has taken over as the new Chair for the SRG.
Elections will be held in April for new SRG representatives to take over in June.
Freita will meet with the Dean on January 18th and will send out the minutes to everyone.

New Business
Jackie Rosumny brought up an idea that SRG events should be reviewed after the events have concluded to look for ways to improve them in the future. She pointed to the Toys for Tots drive and the confusion around pick-up dates, locations and times. She recommended that the SRG push more information out to the COE staff. The idea for a “Service Committee” was raised to handle all special events like Toys for Tots, Walks for Charities, etc.

The SRG Research was discussed. Bill Stauff prepared a history of the SRG on campus and in the COE for the Academic Cabinet meeting. Freita will ask Bill about the SRG Research document.

Next Meeting is Thursday, February 8, 2007 10 a.m. – Noon in G23 Aderhold Hall

Addendum to the 1/11/07 SRG meeting minutes:
New Business:
The SRG Committee will review the bylaws next year (FY 2008). Jackie Rosumny expressed that she would like to be part of the committee that looks at the bylaws revision.
