SPECTRUM Certification

SPECTRUM Certification is an online program designed for individuals who already hold a bachelors degree or higher who would like to become fully certified in the area of Special Education General Curriculum. The coursework for this program is offered through the SETWEB online program, however it differs in that it offers additional benefits including but not limited to: financial support, video supervision, and virtual conference rooms. Applicants must complete BOTH the SPECTRUM and SETWEB application processes.

If you…

  • are employed as a paraprofessional or provisionally certified teacher with an appropriate special education placement in a partner high need school system

  • have at least a 2.5 GPA

  • have passed or exempted PRAXIS I or GACE Basic Skills Assessment

then the SPECTRUM Certification program may be for you!

NOTES:

    • SPECTRUM certification scholarships are limited in quantity and highly competitive. Please inquire about availability before applying for your intended cohort.

    • SETWEB applicants are only eligible to apply to SPECTRUM if they apply to both programs by May 1.

    • If you already hold teacher certification, you do not qualify for SPECTRUM but should still apply to the SETWEB program at www.coe.uga.edu/setweb.

    • This program is ONLY for initial certification and does not result in an advanced degree.

SPECTRUM Certification is a cohort model that requires you take all of your courses and complete your practicum experiences in a particular sequence. SPECTRUM only considers applicants who will start SETWEB coursework in summer. SPECTRUM acceptance is determined for fall.
