Awards
The Supervision and Instructional Leadership SIG recognizes achievements in our field through the presentation of awards at the AERA annual meeting. The two awards – Distinguished Achievement Award and Distinguished Paper Award – are presented on a rotating basis. A description of each award and the selection criteria are as follows:
Distinguished Paper Award – Selection Criteria
This award is presented to an AERA SIG member(s), who presented an outstanding paper at a SIG-sponsored session during the annual meeting. Nominations may come forward from the paper’s author(s), SIG colleagues, or a person in attendance at the session. Papers are evaluated using the selection criteria with which conference proposals are judged. Additional weight is applied to “Choice of Problem/Topic” and “Contribution to Field” areas.
Helen M. Hazi (West Virginia University) and Daisy E. Arredondo Rucinski (Seattle University) were the recipients of the 2006 Distinguished Paper Award, having presented their paper “Complicating the Ritual of Teacher Evaluation: Implications for Supervision” at the 2006 annual meeting.
