BRIDGE

The BRIDGE (Building Resources: Induction and Development for Georgia Educators) is a free online professional development system that provides support, guidance, and information to Georgia teachers. The BRIDGE, located at www.teachersbridge.org, consists of two major areas: BRIDGE Resources and BRIDGE Communities.

BRIDGE Resources are teacher suggested/authored, peer reviewed, and organized around the Georgia Framework for Teaching and teacher questions generated from the Framework. It is a place where educators can “publish” their expertise (expertise that often remains on a bookshelf or in a file cabinet) or find ideas and resources to meet their individual needs.

BRIDGE Communities are based on the face-to-face professional learning model Critical Friends Groups in which teachers come together to help one another learn from and improve their work. In chat rooms or discussion boards, teachers bring work, lesson plans, examples of student work, and dilemmas to the group. Using conversation protocols, the group takes the work or dilemma on as their own, helping to provide ideas and alternative
