These September pictures represent only a small portion of the habitat found along the Lightwoodknot Creek. This learning environment is supported by one of the few southern streams not threatened by real estate development. However, the threats of soil erosion from surrounding farms and careless management of county dirt roads are present. As we visited this tranquil wilderness, the roar of crop duster planes working the near by farms warned us that this place is not safe from pollution. Chemicals provide a threat to the stream and wilderness area.
