Shapes, colors, textures, all blending with the natural surroundings, provide a stimulating learning environment that makes the child want to return. These hardscapes are on scale with the child's size, and offer a friendly atmosphere. In keeping with the "In Harmony With Nature" concept of the SDPL, flowering trees, perennials, and small shrubs provide a blend with the hardscapes.
Note the clock tower and the attached slide in the background. An outdoor 'drawing board' is shown immediately behind the child. This provides an outdoor art studio.
