Sturgeon, Julie (January 1999). Windows: The benefits are clear. College Planning and management, 2, 85-86.

Windows are simple ways to energize a campus. A pane of glass and a frame have the power to energize your campus in four ways: 1. The presence of windows is psychologically uplifting; 2. Glass accentuates excitement; 3. Shapes signal stability (a window recreates yesterday's charm); and 4. Windows convey confidence in the present.

The SDPL recognizes that windows are uplifting, while bringing excitement and stability to a learning environment. They help to provide a statement of confidence in a given era.Windows help identify "period" architecture. We strongly support the inclusion of windows in all classrooms. Natural light elevates the mood of the student and minimizes many health problems associated with artificial light..
