Playground and Park

Viewed by the three-year old child seen below, this is an inviting place. He sees other children who are busy swinging, climbing on the "monkey bars," sliding, and enjoying the built environment.

Regarding the Chart of Architectural/Natural Support Systems for School Design and Construction, this learning environment addresses physical development, the need to deal with spatial relationships, aesthetics, and it also enhances affective and behavioral development through functional design and construction.

A variety of juxtaposed spatial situations is available to support a rich pattern of play behavior. These spaces enhance fantasy play.

The bridge-incline is designed much like a roller coaster, offering a challenge to the child's developing muscles.

One feature, in keeping with SDPL philosophy, is the natural setting. Note the shade that protects Zack from the June sun.
