Planner II
(Facilities
Analyst) xxxx, xxxx,
Maryland.—is seeking a Planner II
(Facilities Analyst) in the xxxx Division of Long-range Planning. This
position is responsible for calculating and analyzing school
capacities, developing expertise in the facility requirements of
educational programs, and participating in the planning for future
enrollment and program needs. The person in this position writes
educational specification documents for use in school construction
projects, and attends meetings associated with facility improvement
projects; including community meetings, architectural design meetings,
and meetings with school system staff and leadership. The person in
this position evaluates requests for facility modifications and
conducts an annual review of space and geographic requirements for
special programs and administrative offices. In addition, this position
is responsible for evaluating where relocatable classrooms will be
needed in the future to address over utilization of schools.
Minimum qualifications for the position include a Bachelor’s degree
with coursework in planning, research methods, and data analysis.
Ability to use computers in planning work and to clearly present
information orally, graphically, and in writing required. Excellent
human relations skills required. Experience with educational facility
planning, design, and construction is highly desirable. Other
combinations of applicable education, training, and experience, that
provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform
effectively in the position, will be considered. Salary range for the
position is $62,000 to $87,000, including an excellent benefits
package.
Space
Planner:
Under
direction
of the manager, the senior space planner is responsible
for project management of all assigned projects. This includes
schematic planning and design, furniture and finishes specifications,
and coordinating moves. Will support needs of internal customer groups
such as furniture requests, reconfigurations, and departmental moves.
Knowledge requirements (education & experience): 4-6 years of
professional
experience in the areas of facilities planning, interior design,
construction, or move management. Degree in Architecture,
Interior
Design, or Facilities Management preferred. Skill requirements (include
complexity of position): Excellent communication skills required, both
written and verbal. A-Cad and or facility management software
expertise
preferred. Ability to read and create plans and elevations
required. Ability to work independently on several projects at
once,
prioritize tasks and proactively solve problems needed.
Experience
in Project Management skills including creating schedules, managing
vendors, and knowledge of construction and facilities processes.
The Director of
Facilities and Grounds is directly responsible for maintaining
District buildings and grounds to ensure full and productive
use of district facilities. In addition, the director will oversee the
planning and work related to construction and maintenance projects. The
director will serve in a leadership capacity in matters related such as
building usage and boundaries. To accomplish these tasks, the Director
of Facilities and Grounds must work closely with the Board of
Education, administration, and staff.
Building Management
Specialist:
The State
of Alaska
Department of Education and Early Development is seeking qualified
candidates to fill the position of Building Management Specialist. This
position is responsible for the implementation and updating of the
preventive maintenance program for school facilities in the State of
Alaska. The individual selected for the position will also provide
compliance assistance to districts through training, feedback and
technical support. Knowledge and experience in facility design,
construction, operations and/or maintenance is essential. The position
includes a significant amount of in-office work including assistance
with the department's school construction and major maintenance
prioritization process, and management of school construction and major
maintenance grant and/or debt reimbursement projects. The successful
applicant will have the opportunity to visit all of the school
districts in Alaska on a rotating basis to assess preventive
maintenance programs of school districts.

This position requires a significant amount of travel within the State
of Alaska to remote locations with limited services for short periods
of time. Travel on small aircraft, boat, ATV, and/or snow machines

The position also requires good written and verbal communications
skills, and the ability to utilize a computer to prepare and analyze

company or organization in their selected field of study. In
addition to technical knowledge including computer operations, CAD, and
project management software, the candidate is expected to acquire
information allowing them to plan and serve high quality
people-friendly facilities.
In the proposed FPDM program, the study of Facilities Management is a
significant part of a student's educational program, including one
formal course and practicum!
One objective of the proposed program is to teach students how lead and
inform stakeholders and
owners
about
appropriate goals for concept design - goals that ensure high
quality people-friendly facilities.

This program proposes to train health care, business and industry
leaders,
recreation personnel, and educators in the proper process for planning
, designing, and managing a facility in each respective field.
As the University
Planner, you will analyze, develop and coordinate the campus
master
plans to maximize the efficient use of the campuses in a way that
advances the institutional mission. This position ensures that any new
development plans conform to the Campus Master Development Plan. The
University Planner engages in all aspects of campus urban design,
including project and precinct planning, landscape and open space
planning, transportation, utility and telecommunication planning. The
University Planner will play a critical role in managing community
input as well as researching and conducting studies, analyzing data and
making recommendations that are able to be implemented. The candidate
selected for this position will have a wide range of responsibility
throughout the University including recommending and participating in
the development of University policies and procedures and may serve on
University planning and policy-making committees.
