All students participating in a study abroad program are required to purchase UGA Travel Abroad Insurance. The cost is included in the Program Fee.

If you have an emergency abroad and are unable to contact your program director, please contact the Office of International Education. During office hours (M-F, 8-5), please call (706) 542-2900 and request to speak with a Study Abroad Advisor or the Director. Travel Clinic at the University of Georgia’s Health Center
The clinic offers travel health information and appropriate vaccinations to students, faculty, staff and the general public. Registered nurses provide consultations offering CDC recommended immunizations, medical precautions, travel safety and tips on accessing emergency medical care. Information is provided on general health risks of travel, risks of contracting diseases related to international travel and methods of prevention including vaccinations. Consultations include an updated computerized report about health issues to consider while planning your trip, and resources for maintaining your health while abroad. All participants are encouraged to visit the travel clinic prior to traveling abroad.
The clinic also provides vaccinations against common diseases such as MMR (measles/mumps/rubella), influenza and hepatitis B. Appointments are necessary.
