People with Intellectual Disability (mental retardation) -

• Have the same rights as other citizens,

• They should be enabled to participate in the same patterns of living as other citizens,

• They are capable of development and growth given appropriate supports and services,

• They and their families should be enabled to participate in decisions which affect them,

• The person with Intellectual Disability (mental retardation) is central to the provision of all forms of programmes
