Purpose
The Institute Fellows program is intended to enhance the research work of faculty members and to provide support in obtaining external funding for grants and contracts.
Eligibility
University of Georgia faculty who have a history of extramural grant or contract funding are eligible for the Fellows program.
Program
Fellows are expected to attend Institute seminars, participate in Institute workshops, exchange ideas with colleagues in the Institute, conduct their own research, and write grant proposals for external funding. Fellows may elect to participate in one or more of the centers or study groups in the Institute. Members of each center or Study Group meet throughout the year to discuss recent work, review research proposals, and exchange information about grant writing and grant proposals.
Fellows are typically supported by their own external funding. The Institute provides skilled administrative personnel to provide assistance in the submission and management of grants or contracts, including budgetary issues, and accounting services once external funding is received. Fellows are expected to attend Institute events, continue their scholarly work, and submit a grant proposal for external funding or have an ongoing grant during the year of appointment. Appointments are for one year, but are renewable.
Appointments. Nominations for the 2013-2014 academic year should be forwarded to the Director, Institute Interdisciplinary Research in Education and Human Development, 125 Aderhold Hall. Candidates are typically self-nominated. The application will include a vita and a brief description of the proposed research project. The Advisory Board of the Institute for Research in Education and Human Development will select Fellows.
