As part of the overall mission in support of research across campus, OVPR operates Internal Grants & Awards to support, facilitate, and reward research activities. UGARF provides funding for the following programs:
Faculty Research Seed Grants
Provides “seed money” in two separate competitions in support of research and scholarship by faculty. All programs utilize the same guidelines and application. Also, be sure to read the Tips for FRG Applicants.

Sciences: First Tuesday in April (These awards will now be on a fiscal-year cycle instead of a calendar-year cycle.)

Eligibility:
Available to instructors, tenure-track faculty, and research scientists; Faculty Research Grant are designed for early career faculty (assistant professors and assistant research scientists); Willson CHA grants fund both junior and senior faculty
Amounts:
Average grants are in the $3,000 – $10,000 range

Cultivar Development Research Program
Provides grant support to researchers in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences to promote the development of new plant cultivars.
Deadline:
First Wednesday in October
Eligibility:
Full and part-time faculty, USDA adjunct positions, and permanent research scientists in the University’s “Research Professionals” classification system. Visiting faculty and postdoctoral research associates are ineligible.
Amount:
No upper limit, however funding proposals with large budgets (above $60,000) must have unusually strong justification.

Application
Research in Diversity Seed Grant (RIDSG) Program
Purpose:
To stimulate more diversity and inclusion-related research at UGA. Grants support initial work by early career faculty or a new emphasis on research into diversity and inclusion by established faculty.
Deadline:
April 2, 2012.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be full-time, regular (non-visiting), tenured or tenure-track faculty at The University of Georgia and have a documented scholarly and research track record.
Amounts:
Up to $2000
