Inservice Workshops
In developing professional learning opportunities, RCWP believes . . .
1) Teachers are the best teachers of other teachers
2) Multiple sessions over time produce the best results
3) No one approach works best in all situations
4) The school community should have input into the type and manner of professional development
5) The expertise of teachers needs to be honored
6) Educators should take inquiry stances on their practices
Red Clay Teacher Consultants can . . .
1) Work with a school or group of teachers to assess their needs as teachers of writing
2) Create ongoing, in-depth, teacher-led Professional Learning
3) Plan collaboratively to provide Professional Learning experiences specific to the school or group needs, such as developing a school-wide writing program with common principles and structures creating strong writing communities linking reading and writing through genre studies developing strategies for differentiated literacy instruction to reach culturally, linguistically, and academically diverse learners
4) Generate literacy curriculum based on performance standards
