Quig 2000 Conference on Qualitative Research in Education

Pre-Conference Institutes
(Limited space, reserved on first-come basis, additional fees)
Pre-conferences scheduled for Thursday, January 6, 2000 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

  1. Introduction to NUD*IST 4.0 and Ethnograph 5 - The workshop is intended to introduce participants to two qualitative data analysis programs. Participants will practice preparing documents for and importing documents into NUD*IST and Ethnograph 5. They will explore the basic coding procedures in these programs. Participants should be familiar with Windows 95, file management, and a word processing program. Facilitators: Dr. Jude Preissle and Dr. Mary Ann Fitzgerald - University of Georgia. Registration fee - $30.00. (Minimum participants: 5 -- maximum: 30). To be held in Room 618, Aderhold Hall (College of Education).

  2. Teaching Qualitative Research - This workshop is for faculty and graduate students who are interested in learning more about teaching courses in qualitative research. Participants will engage in discussion about course structure and teaching strategies. Course outlines and other materials will be shared. Facilitator: Dr. Kathleen deMarrais - University of Georgia. Registration fee - $30.00. (Minimum participants: 5 - maximum: 30). To be held in Aderhold Hall.

  3. Clinical Practice and Qualitative Research - This workshop will present various methods for studying clinical processes and outcomes and provide a forum for participants to share their research projects and ideas. Facilitated by Thorana Nelson - Utah State University. Registration fee - $10.00. (Minimum participants: 8 - maximum: 25). To be held at McPhaul Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic.

(Registration cut-off date for pre-conference institutes is December 1, 1999. Workshops will be held if the minimum is met by that date. If the session does not make, you will be notified by e-mail and pre-conference fees will be refunded).
