Project
Shop is a US Department of Education
development project (H327A000056) at the University
of Georgia's College of Education.
We are developing a video and interactive, multimedia CD-ROM that
will help teach functional community skills to students with moderate
to severe intellectual disabilities. Current development activities
include production of instructional videos and development of a
multimedia CD-ROM.

|
As
video production and multimedia development activities progress, sample
video clips and interactive modules will be available in the Products
section of this web site. |
 |
| We
believe that products of this nature are the next generation of instructional
tools to help individuals with disabilities become fully active in
the community and be able to do what the rest of us take for granted.
We expect that these products will be motivational and engaging for
students of all ability levels--not just a specific group. |
|
These
instructional materials will help students acquire skills in the
areas of employment, functional literacy, mobility, and purchasing.
Video episodes will show engaging stories of individuals with disabilities
shopping and working in a community supermarket. The CD-ROM will
give students an interactive virtual trip to the supermarket in
order to practice making good decisions in a safe and helpful environment,
while also helping them to make a successful transition to real-life
situations.
