I am currently a Professor for the Department of Educational Psychology and a member of the Applied Cognition and Development program. My teaching interests include cognitive development. My research interests are: math strategies, gender, and metacognition. I am a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) and a member of the Society for Research in Child Development, Cognitive Development Society, National Council for Teachers of Mathematics, and past-president of Women and Mathematics Education. I have served as principle investigator on several National Science Foundation grants dealing with predictors of mathematics achievement in early elementary school. I have edited a book entitled Motivation in Mathematics and have worked published in Educational Psychological Review, Learning and Individual Differences, Contemporary Educational Psychology, Journal of Research in Mathematics Education, Research in Middle Level of Quarterly and more.
