Academic Professional

Lew Allen received his Ed.D in Educational Administration at The University of Georgia in 1993. Before coming to Georgia he taught special education for 17 years in Lawrence, Kansas. He was Co-Director of the Georgia League of Professional Schools from 1992 to 2009. The League was a collaboration between the University of Georgia’s College of Education and Georgia public schools focused on democratic school governance and democratic learning in classrooms. Currently he serves as the professional development school liaison between J.J. Harris Charter Elementary School and our College of Education. His duties include serving on the PDS Steering Committee, working with the school's administrative and leadership teams to create professional learning experiences, and supervising student teachers. His research interests are teacher education and school-wide instructional improvement.
