Science teacher retention, attrition, and migration; creating and implementing technology based learning experiences; assessment of higher order thinking skills in science.
SomeBackground:
Georgia Wood Hodges works as an assistant research scientist at the University of Georgia. She attended public schools in the state of Georgia and committed her professional life to improving the educational system found in the US. After working in the public schools in Georgia, she returned to UGA where she ultimately completed her PhD to continue with her commitment to improving educational outcomes for all students. Recently, she was selected to participate in the Young Game Changers for the state of Georgia. This group is tasked with improving living conditions for Georgians by thinking of innovative solutions that affect poverty in Georgia.
Research Focus:
Her current research focuses on rural science teacher retention, attrition, and migration as well as the development of novel instructional tools to teach students fundamental biological processes that affect type 2 diabetes and obesity, issues of utmost importance to Georgians
