As the Associate Dean, Laura Bierema is responsible for the overall administration of the Office of Academic Programs. In this role, she serves to represent the College to other units within the University, including the Office of the Vice President for Instruction, Curriculum Systems, The Graduate School, the Office of International Education and other administrative units relevant to curriculum, students, and international initiatives. On matters related to the curriculum, assessment, and accreditation, she represents the College to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education.
Prior to joining the Dean’s office, Bierema was in UGA’s Department of Lifelong Learning, Administration, and Policy in the Program of Adult Education, Learning & Organization Development. Author or co-author of 5 books, over 40 articles, and numerous book chapters, Bierema’s scholarly interests include adult and organizational learning, critical human resource development, women’s development, career development, coaching, and leadership. She is the recipient of numerous research awards including Scholar of the Year by the Academy of Human Resource Development in 2013 and The UGA College of Education Russell Yeaney Research Award in 2012.
She earned her doctorate in Adult Education at the University of Georgia.
