Support - Classroom & Lab Support

College of Education Classroom and Computer Lab Software Policy

  • All software installed on the computers must by licensed by USG, UGA (EITS), COE (OIT), or an academic department within COE.
  • OIT does not permit the installation of demo versions of software on any lab or classroom computer. OIT does not permit the installation of ‘shareware’ software on any lab or classroom computer.
  • The use of Student Technology Fee funds for the purchase of any software must be approved by the College of Education Student Technology Fee Advisory Committee in the previous fiscal year and included in the OIT-STF budget. Faculty may request the committee include academically relevant software on COE classroom or computer lab equipment by submitting a written request to the Director of OIT before the Spring mid-semester break.
  • OIT may install software in a computer lab that is not licensed by USG, UGA, or COE if and only if licenses equal to the number of computers in that lab have been purchased by an academic department. OIT requires at least 14 days to install the software on the target computers.
  • Software requests must be received in writing to twt@uga.edu.
  • While OIT will install software on classroom and lab computers, its members are not necessarily familiar with the operation of that software and may not be able to provide operational support to users.
  • All classroom and lab computers will contain the suite of accessibility tools as provided by the Disability Resource Center.
