Media Services - Digital Audio & Video Support
Video conferencing technology uses the Internet as the transmission medium. Using a camera, microphone, monitor, and a piece of equipment called a codec (COMpressor/DECompressor), IP video conferencing (VC) allows two or more people in different locations to communicate in real time. VC only works if parties on both ends of the “call” have compatible video conferencing technology. (Tandberg, Polycom, LifeSize). Ideally, all participants in a “call” can see and hear each other simultaneously, and share PC screen content from one side or the other.
The COE currently has four rooms equipped with Tandberg C40 video conference technology:
Aderhold G23
Aderhold G5
215 Ramsey
113 River’s Crossing
Use of these facilities must be scheduled in advance. Standard lead time of 48 hours is required for any Video Conference Event to allow for room scheduling and any testing/coordination with the remote site.
