Changing Your Netware Password

Many faculty and staff members use our file server to store class files and other sensitive materials due to the security of our server and also due to the convenience of being able to access these files from any computer within the College of Education that has a Novell client. However, very few faculty and staff members are aware that once they have a Novell account created, it is very simple to change the default password to one of their choice. There are three easy steps in changing the password:

  1. Press CTRL-ALT-Delete on your keyboard.
  2. An option screen will appear with the ability to shutdown, view the task manager, change password, etc. Click change password.
  3. Once you've selected change password, highlight the UGA tree because this is the password for the network. Once you've highlighted this, on the right pane you must type in your old password, your new password, and confirm your new password. Once you have finished, click ok and your Novell password has now changed to your new password.

Please note that you can change your Windows password as well to match your Novell password. In order to do this, you can simply follow the same steps, but instead of highlighting the UGA tree in step three, highlight the computer icon. Any further questions about Novell Passwords can be answered by the OIT helpdesk. Please feel free to contact us at coehelp@uga.edu or 542-4357.
