About OIT Campus Collaborations

CIOAC
The Information Technology Advisory Council was created to provide input, information, and support for strategic initiatives at the request of the Chief Information Officer. Dr. Sandi Glass serves as the Chair of ITAC.

EITS
Enterprise Information Technology Services is the central IT organization at the University of Georgia. Members of the College of Education’s OIT work collaboratively to provide the appropriate blend of local and central IT services. Both units have worked as partners on committees and
projects such as IT Jobs, Centralized Network Services, Software
Compliance, Centralized Back-up Services.

UGANet
The University of Georgia Network Managers Group provides the networking among highly technical IT professionals. Members contribute
to the tactical and strategic planning through their focus on the IT
requirements for projects supporting business functions.

ITJobs
ITJobs was created to provide industry specific knowledge for the UGA re-classification project in 2004. The team developed new IT job descriptions and an IT and IT Leadership Matrix describing skill requirements in communication, problem solving, technology, and leadership. The model was developed with a focus on recruiting, retaining, developing, and rewarding IT professionals. The work continues with IT and Human Resources professionals collaborating on training requirements for the various job classifications contributing to a career ladder approach for IT professionals.

Software Policy Committee
The team lead for the Communications, Applications, and Compliance unit of OIT is a member of the Software Policy Committee charged with the development of UGA policy for compliance. The committee will recommend a process for software management and purchasing at UGA.

Cent-Back Committee
The team lead for the Client Services, Infrastructure, and Standards unit has worked with a cross-campus committee charged with recommendations for centralized back-up of data.

Centralized Networking Committee
Several members of OIT have researched and recommended a model for centralized networking services and equipment replacement. Highlights of the proposed model include improved standards across UGA for networking equipment, improved network support due to standardized network approach, and a funding model to address 5 year replacement of hardware.

Learning Management Systems Leadership Team

Members of OIT are participating in a committee charged with identifying the feature requirements of a learning management system to support instruction at UGA.

ITMF

The Information Technology Management Forum consists of managers
and directors of IT units and departments at UGA. The committee provides a leadership perspective of IT issues and projects. Additionally, ITMF provides information for the office of the CIO and ITAC. Major projects such as centralized back-up and ITJobs originated in ITMF.


DWEEBS
The Web Design Dawgs is a professional organization for web designers and developers at UGA. Members of OIT contribute leadership and support of projects such as content management application research for the university. The group meets regularly to network with IT professionals focused web-based communication.
