MISSION STATEMENT

October 27, 1997

Oconee College is a public, four-year, co-educational institution. It offers undergraduate, graduate, and continuing educational programs for a diverse population of citizens in the State of Franklin. The College provides opportunities to people who are committed to learning.

Oconee College is committed to preparing its students for the pursuit of knowledge, service to society, creation and dissemination of knowledge, and the enhancement of their overall quality of life. Oconee College encourages students to critically examine and apply knowledge, evaluate the ethical implications of their actions, and serve the greater good of society.

Oconee College’s primary concern is its students. The College maintains high academic standards and endeavors to individualize students' educational experiences through comprehensive, coordinated curricular and co-curricular offerings.


Oconee College is committed to promoting tolerance and understanding among members of the college community. Through educational programs, and the conduct of community members, the College honors cultural diversity and promotes respect for racial, ethnic, religious, and gender differences.
