IDEAL, a five-year NIH-funded project among scientists and science educators at UGA, science teachers in high schools, and the BSCS organization is creating and evaluating curricular materials that use highly interactive 3-D models and animations of physiological processes. The project, co-directed by Steve Oliver, professor and associate head of the department of mathematics and science education, is featured in the Winter 2011 issue of the UGA Graduate School Magazine (Pages 30-40)

One of the nation’s top researchers in cognitive neuroscience, Mark Beeman of Northwestern University, discussed the spark that results in sudden human insight in the 2011 E. Paul Torrance Lecture on March 24 at the University of Georgia. Cress co-authors article on 20-year case study of successful aging

A 20-year case study involving a former University of Georgia dean emeritus shows the importance of motivation for behavioral change in diet and exercise for successful aging, reports an article in the peer-reviewed, refereed Health and Fitness Journal co-authored by Elaine Cress, professor emeritus of kinesiology and director of UGA’s Aging and Physical Performance Laboratory.
