A February 4 story in the Red & Black reports on the announced closing of the COE’s recreation and leisure studies program. The undergraduate major, which enrolls between 80 and 120 students each year, will soon “cease to exist,” according to a LISTSERV email shared with The Red & Black. Since 1975 the degree has prepared students for careers in areas like outdoor education, youth development, event planning and tourism.
