SIM® Workshop: Paraphrasing and Summarizing Strategy

The Fundamentals of Paraphrasing and SummarizingStrategy Workshop is designed to systematically teach the fundamental skills students need to be able to identify and paraphrase main ideas and details. Fundamentals contains lessons on paraphrasing words, phrases, and sentences, as well as lessons on identifying main ideas and details in paragraphs and short essays. Specific instruction includes paraphrasing passages where main ideas are not clear, as well as generalizing to Standardized tests.
This one-day workshop will introduce teachers to the foundations of the Strategic instruction Model® (SIM®) and will prepare them to implement research-based interventions to help students acquire skills for effectively comprehending reading passages.
