Sandmann speaks on community engagement

Lorilee Sandmann, a professor in the department of lifelong education, administration, and policy, is speaking on community engagement to faculty at the University of Northern Colorado, reports a story in the November 12 issue of The Mirror.
Sandmann is a key proponent of a new school of thought, known as “community-engaged scholarship,” a strategy utilized by universities to include more of the surrounding community in their work and education. The idea is that this will create ties between the academic world and the “real” world, as well as keeping the community interested and concerned about the affairs of the university itself.
