New heat policies on high school football practice take effect this week, reported NBC affiliate WSAV-TV in Savannah on July 25. The policies were developed by UGA College of Education researchers after a three-year study led by Michael Ferrara, associate dean for research and founder of UGA’s athletic training education program, and Bud Cooper, associate head of the department of kinesiology, and were adopted by the Georgia High School Association last March.
