Dupree, of Morrow, is a fourth-year Ph.D. student majoring in workforce education.

Yvette Dupree, a doctoral candidate in the University of Georgia College of Education, was one of 21 career and technical educators recently honored as Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Division award winners at the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education’s (GACTE) annual conference in Atlanta.

Dupree, of Morrow, a fourth-year Ph.D. student majoring in workforce education, was selected as Educator of the Year for the Georgia Marketing Education Association.

As a graduate assistant, Dupree served as a co-coordinator for the 49^th and 50^th annual Southeastern Business and Marketing Education Conference. She also developed a strategic marketing plan and publications for the first Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program at the UGA-Griffin campus.

Dupree is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Clayton sponsored by the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. Along with several leaders from her class, she co-founded the Clayton Leaders Environmental Action Network (C.L.E.A.N.), a nonprofit organization created as a beautification initiative for the community. She currently serves as the organization’s vice president.

In addition to her involvement with GACTE, she is a member of several civic, professional and honorary organizations including the Junior League of Atlanta, the American Marketing Association and Omicron Tau Theta Graduate Honor Society.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, she taught marketing education at Morrow High School for three years and advised a DECA program of more than 50 members. DECA is an international association of students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service.

An educator for more than seven years, Dupree earned an M.A.T. in occupational studies in 2007 and a B.B.A. in marketing in 2003, both from UGA. She was honored July 18 at the conference held at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

The GACTE is the second largest state affiliate of the national organization, Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE). Georgia’s 2,700 members represent high school, technical college, and university faculty and administrators who are associated with career, technical, and agricultural education.
