Odom running for Oconee County BOE chair
Oconee County voters will choose next month between two candidates to lead the county’s school board — a current board member or a former school system administrator — both University of Georgia graduates.
Michael Hunter (BSFR ’87), vice chairman of the Oconee County Board of Education, will face Tom Odom (BSED ’77, ’85 MED, ’90 EDS), a retired Oconee County principal, in July 31 balloting. Current Oconee County Board of Education Chairman David Weeks announced in May that he would not seek re-election, reports an article in the June 19 issue of the Athens Banner-Herald.
